wife and I are at that point - work like dogs - got a nice situation in the subs - but so entrenched can't take a day off.

We're fairly conservative. No fancy cars or trips to Hawaii for us.

You can buy something, but with inflation and the cost of owning/maintaining houses, cars, etc. it eats you up.

putting 10% of every paycheck into gold - hope it works.

elmat - great job steering the boat towards China. I hope we can throw in an occasional post on India. As they've done, and continue to do, 1 billion Indians fail to get noticed when standing next to 1.3 billion Chinese.

The huge impact China makes on the world is amplified by India following a similar path and consuming their fair shares of resources.
