Re: Lawrence, after having lived, worked and lead various successful military campaigns in the desert alongside the Arabs, was against Britain’s imperialism toward Iraq.

According to James Barr(*), Lawrence didn't oppose British "imperialism"... I seem to remember that there was a rivalry between India's British leadership and Egypt's. The former wanted military resources to be allocated to Iraq/Mesopotamia whereas the latter sought to drive the Ottomans out of Palestine and the then Hejjaz area... I agree, however, that TE Lawrence was not Arabophobic --quite the opposite, he was among the few British intelligence officers who spoke Arabic and enjoyed mixing with the Beduins. Lawrence really was a "romantic colonialist", an idealist whose motto could have been, "Everything for the Arabs (sovereignty, self-rule,...), nothing by the Arabs!" Lawrence's chief obsession was actually the French empire: Lawrence's prime mover was to drive the French out of the Near East, hence his deep disappointment at the (then secret) Sykes-Picot understanding... Lawrence's first and foremost objective was to reach Damas as soon as possible in order to thwart any claim the French might contemplate over Syria/Lebanon....

UK has to find somebody to help them euro-exist within the legal stranglehold of EU, constitution and all (and no old time colonies) and silly maximum suitable two-party system.

They cannot even trust the Scots nor even the Welsh, once again.
(who do not have that same silly two party system anymore)

However, before these latter days of Tony, EU had promised to help them adjust, almost in any way, including some illegal ones, now it is probably still a matter of the same old blessing, that EU will not destroy all of London City.

It seems they will still be able to stay the center of the now slightly lesser blessed tax-evasion and colonial center within EU, for some additional years.
