Kerry is one of the top fundraisers in politics. He raised 200 million in 2004, an all-time record, more than Bush raised.
He raised and gave away more than 14 million in 2006 for Dem congressional candidates and championed Jim Webb who gave Dems control of the senate.

He still has as much as 14 million in the bank. Because $2000 is the tops anyone can give, do the math. That's about two years worth of fundraising Kerry doesn't have to do, but everyone but Hillary will have to do. 14 million is enough to see him through, plus he'll be raising a lot more after he declares.

One more thing. Kerry won in Iowa last time and can do well there again. He can also definitely win New Hampshire. So he's an automatic top contender. I predict in about 9 months he'll consistently poll in the top three. Unless Gore enters, then I think Gore wipes out everyone including Kerry. I also predict Dems will end up nominating a white male. if they don't it will be a huge risk and unprecedented.
