TJ, the target companies will the ones that, potentially, could buy lots of Chinese products;
Telecom gear is a case on top of the priorities list. This mobile operators in Middle East, North Africa, SubSahel Africa are prime targets. They still have to build a lot, so it will serve as channel for Chinese products.

Pfizer sees 10,000 job cuts by end of 2008
Pfizer Inc. said Monday it plans to cut about 10,000 positions, or 10%, of its total worldwide workforce by the end of next year. This includes the U.S. sales organization reductions announced previously, the New York-based pharmaceutical company said.

Pfizer said it plans to close the two manufacturing sites in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Omaha, Neb., and three research sites in the United States. The company said it expects a net reduction in the pretax total expense component of adjusted income of between $1.5 billion and $2 billion by the end of 2008.

Does anyone have any idea why the CAD weakened all of a sudden? after trading in a range for days..... aside form TA explanations... or more sellers than buyers .. :')

Also the TRY made a turnaround but this one was already expected ....

Other interesting issue is Putin maneuver with Merkel which fell in Putin trap and screwed Poland and other CEE big times.

Some times, I wonder how stupid the EU leaders are. Until today I had respect for Merkel not any more. Putin is promoting a highly expensive gas supply route below the Baltic Sea to enable Russia to manipulate CEE countries at his wish with the energy supply

As always the criminals have their ways :(

Coast Financial Warns of Impairments
Friday January 19, 2:28 pm ET
Coast Financial Stock Dives After $110 Million Construction Projects Stop

NEW YORK (AP) -- Stock in Coast Financial Holdings Inc. plummeted to a new 52-week low Friday after the bank said borrowers of $110 million in mortgage loans may not be able to repay their debt.

A local builder contracted by 482 borrowers halted construction on single-family residential properties, for which the bank has committed funding, due to insufficient resources. More than half of the loans had already been paid out to the borrowers. Liens were placed on some of the projects.

Bradenton, Fla.-based Coast Financial is the holding company for Coast Bank of Florida. The bank is investigating the results of the loans, but the company expects to take a material charge for the bad debt.

At Sept. 30, the company had net loans of $531.4 million.

Shares of Coast Financial lost $3.82, or 23.8 percent, to $12.25 in afternoon Nasdaq trading, after setting a low of $11. The stock has traded in a 52-week range of $15.66 to $17.31.
