John -- thanks - I have not read this book. It seems to confirm what others have been saying for some time -- the handle "curveball" seems apt. In my view this is Cheney's war. Bush just blindly bought the whole idea from Cheney and now he has painted himself into a corner -- and Cheney is telling him to escalate. Bush is incapable of accepting responsibility -- to t=do that would be to acknowledge the full extent to which this has been dishonorable, misguided ideological boondogle from day one, not to mention a total self defense fiasco and a tragic misuse of US resources. This war was wrong from day one. Cheney was wrong, and Bush went along. The books that are coming out flesh out the details. I am glad to see them.
