DMA, IQ and g are attempts to measure an obviously important thing. Arm waving is excellent for religion [where there is nothing to be measured as it's all fantasy]. But it's not good for reality.

Reality needs measurement.

Murray was talking about g, whether it's measured or not. Not IQ.

Have another read [or a first read] of his article. Judging the book without reading the cover is fraught with risk.

While measurement using IQ tests or g tests might not be perfect, it's a lot better than arm-waving and selecting people by colour, or being a good friend, or nepotism, all of which are popular. IQ is a much better measure of likely success.
