"McCain Blames Cheney for Iraq War

Seeking to distance himself from the Bush administration's failed Iraq policy, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) told The Politico's Roger Simon that he blamed Vice President Cheney for what he calls the "witch's brew" of a "terribly mishandled" war "in which U.S. forces are on the verge of defeat."

Said McCain: "The president listened too much to the Vice President... Of course, the president bears the ultimate responsibility, but he was very badly served by both the Vice President and, most of all, the Secretary of Defense... Rumsfeld will go down in history, along with McNamara, as one of the worst secretaries of defense in history."

Finally, in case you were wondering, Sen. John McCain will run for president in 2008. "There is no doubt," McCain told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review in "his firmest declaration to date that he's in the race."
