We heard the exact same thing about the 2006 elections from the same voices.

I'm sure there are positive things in Iraq. It would be odd if there weren't, with all that money we're spending there- but we're pouring all that money in to a region that I don't think we can stabilize. I'm not sure how covering the little things, like the building of schools, changes the larger picture- that there is a escalating cycle of revenge killings in the middle of a civil war. It's not as if the killings will stop if the media doesn't report them. The Iraqis will still know their relatives aren't coming home- and the only people left in the dark would be Americans.

I don't imagine Bush's truly ardent supporters are going to have an easy time adjusting to the failure of his grand scheme. They will blame the Iraqis, the media, the dems, and whoever else they can. I am sure there will always be a small percentage that feel it was perfectly logical to invade Iraq, topple it's leadership, attempt to completely change and rebuild the society- all with only a few hundred thousand soldiers who didn't speak the language, and didn't understand the society or culture, and who worked with a plan drawn up by leaders who didn't speak the language and didn't understand the society or culture.

The failure of Iraq thus far can be laid at the door of this administration, at the door of the Dems who didn't perform their job as loyal opposition, and the media- who didn't dig hard enough in to the smokescreen of disinformation that garnered initial support for the invasion. So I guess
I blame the media too- but for being lapdogs for this administration.
