Since you are Jewish, what would you do about finding a place for the Jews in Israel? Where do you propose they go? In 1948 600,000 Jews living in Arab countries were absorbed into Israel, that is as many Jews as there were Muslims displaced from Israel. They cannot return to their homes, where will they go?

Poll: Most Americans Think Israel is not Key to Iraq Problem
15:38 Jan 23, '07 / 4 Shevat 5767
by Gil Ronen

Sixty percent of Americans believe that "challenges in Iraq will not be solved by solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, " a new poll for The Israel Project has found.

Only 28% of those polled believe the conflict over the Land of Israel is the key to the Iraq problem.

The poll of 800 registered voters was conducted by telephone Jan. 18 and 20-21 for The Israel Project by Public Opinion Strategies in conjunction with Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research. The margin of error is +/- 3.5 percent.

71 percent of Americans believe that "the bigger cause of violence in the Middle East is the conflict between moderates and extremists, across a number of countries and groups." This compares with only 18 percent who believe that "the bigger cause of violence in the Middle East is the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians."

American support for Israel stands at 50 percent, while support for the Palestinian Authority is only 7%. Although there is public support for a two-state solution, 60 percent of Americans believe there should not be a state for the Arabs of Judea, Samaria and Gaza until their leaders end terror and recognize Israel's right to exist. Only a quarter of the respondents favored granting the Palestinian Authority statehood now.

The poll also shows Americans are not buying Iranian President Ahmadinejad's version of why he wants nuclear power, and that an overwhelming 83 percent favor the international community placing and enforcing tough sanctionsagainst Iran. Seven out of 10 Americans support such sanctions even it leads to a rise in the cost of fuel. Just 13 percent of Americans believe that the Iranian nuclear program is for energy, while 68 percent believe it is intended for creating nuclear weapons.

An even larger share of Americans - 86 percent - support a "ban on all international weapons sales to Iran," and a vast majority of Americans - 88 percent - support "expanding intelligence-gathering efforts within Iran so that the United States' decision-making process is better informed as to Iran's capability and its intentions."

When asked, "How worried are you that Iran might develop nuclear weapons?" nearly three-quarters - 72 percent - of Americans said they were worried about such a threat.

"Americans are worried and have a reason to be," said Jennifer Laszlo Mizrahi, founder and president of The Israel Project. "An Iranian group has recruited more than 25,000 people to be suicide bombers against the US and Europe. The president of Iran says that Israel should be wiped off the map and denies the Holocaust. Again today, Iran refused to allow international inspections of their nuclear program - a nuclear program that they have promised to share with others. The American people clearly understand the threats of Iran and want both sanctions and a weapons ban on Iran now

Zionism must be made to answer for their crimes against the Palestinians, Jew. Moslem, and Gentile alike.

Isra'El should have its name and moniker (The Jewish State) changed to reflect a non-exclusive state made up of Jews, Christians, Moslems, and other.

The flag should not have a religious symbol on it and any exclusive reference to Judaism in anthem or government seal expunged.
