Ted, > Think hubris and mendacity and intentionally scaring people.

You mean like, "Health care is so bad, people are going to Mexico for operations"? Or "The world is coming to an end thanks to global warming"? Or "Bush and those mean Republicans want to kick old people out onto the streets"?

Come on Ted. You don't define your life, preferences, and beliefs by asking other people, do you? Why should an elected official?

Because they are elected to represent the preferences and beliefs of their constituents. That's why Republican constituents rarely elect Democrats and visa versa. When one's constituents change their position, their representative has a responsibility to explain why he/she is not changing his/her position. Bush has a responsibility to do what the American public wants. If he doesn't want to, then he needs to explain why that is and try to convince the American public to see his way.

Instead, Bush is saying this is what I want and I am going to do it whether you agree or not. And then he went ahead and did it. That's why Bush is losing support so rapidly. Remember what I said a while ago.....this will lead to a Constitutional crisis or Bush's resignation/impeachment.
