no, but they were I think hard to defeat, and the US had this new weapon, and it is hard for any military not to try out their new toys, I am not sure the Americans had a clue what the bomb would actually do, but now that we do, as I said before I think any country should be allowed to possess them, but on using them for a first strike, that country should simply be bombed into nothingness.
