That was my point, a high IQ doesn't necessarily equate with good judgement. You'd think you'd have been able to find a way to dispute my point instead of proving it!Yes, learning and thinking are quite different, but thinking can't be done in the absence of information. Duh! I'm not stupid. High IQ measures thinking better than learning. Did you mean to say that high IQ measures thinking [ability] better than learning [ability]? I'd say that IQ measurements are reliable predictors of one's ability to learn well, are decent predictors of ones ability to perform pedestrian thinking functions and are not good predictors of one's ability to perform at the very highest levels of creative thinking and problem solving. Of course those who've done great things are later labeled with the "genius" brand but how many child "genius" phenoms ever make a name for themselves with great achievements? Especially outside of the math genre?Dumb as a post....[not true} Well, not true in the sense that high IQ people are at least smart enough to be smarter than posts. In the context of my post, however, the dumb as a post reference was to those who attempt to succeed in areas where truly high level thinking is required. If you ever want to test this out, try talking to a few doctors or judges and watch their minds work. I've dealt with a lot of both. I've no doubt that they'd test out fine on IQ tests and be very good in class but although most of them can see the trees pretty well, most of them can't see the forest and they sure as hell couldn't find their way through it. So, I'd say that you were right in proposing that we try to THINK of a better way to train up people for life. The first step would be to get all the educators out of the way. You know who they are, they have Dr. in front of their names, they were "really smart" in school, they have high IQs and they're messing things up really badly because they're dumber than posts. Got you there, didn't I. g. Ed
