If it was just a matter of disagreement over the definition, we could probably try to find another word to use.

But 1 - I've already tried and can't think of a good one. Not that I've tried too hard or for too long, but its not worth a large effort.

and 2 - The word plays in to other arguments, esp. but not limited to arguments about tax cuts.

I suppose I could use something like "deliberate policy to take from one person or group and give to another" every time I would have used "redistribution", but that's clumsy and inelegant.

The other thing we could do is each use the word to mean what we think it should mean and just recognize that the other person means something else by it, but I'm not sure how well that will work out.

In any case I think I've just about over-analyzed this issued to death...
