The logic on their side is that if you can present a radical image of a democrat you can stop them from getting to the 50% plateau where winning starts becoming possible. The Dems actually need about 51% of the vote to win because of the electoral college tilt toward the GOP. The problem for Obama is in about 8 states which are predominantly white, moderate-conservative and necessary to win, that is at least 6 out of 8 of them. You put him up against a guy like Romney and he'd have a hard time. AS, stop giving the GOP so much power....they are counting on it.
