re: just imagine Steve Jobs

I don't think anyone has a problem with the compensation of a Jobs or a Gates as founders of a company. It's the guys like the Home Depot guy that fail and get $250Mill to quit that stick in the craw.

Exactly. For somebody like Ted, who seems to have a problem understanding this, just imagine Steve Jobs retired from Apple and just free lancing in the commercial world for almost anything... No doubt he would earn a lot more than at Apple. At least for a couple of years.

Steve Jobs is brilliant.....he's in a class all his own. There are few CEOs like him or say like John Chambers of CSCO. The rest are like A-Rod......hugely overpaid for what they do.......and it seems the increasing CEO salaries is calculated, given the huge increase in salaries since 1980.
