If it's the latter, they're screwing their broker network. Countrywide has been screwing brokers for the past couple of years by calling the borrower when the payoff is ordered. At that point they know the borrower is refinancing and they undercut the broker on rates, fees or both.

Could it be in their best interest to screw the broker network?
Perhaps they want to eliminate it.

In fact I think they should eliminate it and on a different subject I think Realtors at 6% commission deserve the kiss of death too.

Of course I think Walmart should be allowed to compete against banks as well.
