<I haven't heard Bush say he is not open to alternative proposals>

The cornerstone of the Baker plan is to engage Iran and Syria as well as others in search of a political solution. There is no military solution to Iraq -- other than a civil war with great potential to become a regional war that would be a far worse disaster than the one Bush has created thus far -- and that is the path Bush put us on and is keeping us on with his 'surge'.

Bush is flatly opposed to a political solution because that would require engaging countries on his enemies list. Bush is absolutely opposed to the major alternative that was developed by smarter people than himself in a bipartisan act of desperation to get Bush to keep America from slipping deeper and deeper into this quagmire. The response for Bush? Go deeper into the quagmire. Surge. Set the stage to push this civil war over the edge and inflame it till it becomes a regional war. We are on the road to a disaster that will keep the name 'Bush' on the minds of Americans for many generations as the President that made the most tragic decisions and made them for the worst reasons of any American President.

Bush failed America. Now he won't get out of the way to let others do what can be done to save us from even worse things to come.
