I don't know if I had lived then if slavery would have been ok with me. I suppose it would have depended on where I was brought up.

Slavery isn't ok with me now. And the fact that we had slaves in the US in the past strikes me as...unfortunate. It is difficult, though, to imagine how the South could have existed without slavery- before the advent of the industrial revolution, which of course made slaves less necessary.

It's all really much more complex than a yes or no question, don't you think?

If I owned some hot slaves like that Hemmings gal Jefferson used to nail, I suppose it had it's points!
