"What about Dad?"

51% of women in America are single. There are probably an additional large percentage of married women who are currently considering divorce. The statistics say as much about the current status of men in American families as it does about the children coming into the world and the cultural identity they will have.

This changes society in many ways. For example, many adults raising children were not raised in a home where there were two parents, or where there are now supportive grand parents. Siblings may have been step relations that were short ordered, here one day gone the next.

Besides the 50 percent or so extra men wandering around America we have cultures where there are millions of extra males now (china and India for example have a 100 female to 117 male birth rate).

See the pattern? There is no historical model for us to use in predicting what will happen in a few years with billions of men wandering the planet with no family life. We do know in general what happens when you put a lot men together with no family purpose ... things usually get ugly. Prepare to duck a lot.

Dad is just a sperm donor, doesn't suffer pregnancy, and isn't necessarily stuck with the whelp for the next 18 years. It's MOM's problem, even if she's a minor.
