when are you going to learn to stop going to the right for your numbers? I went to any source I could find for the numbers. It wasn't a search for sources from "the right". The source I did find and use wasn't a conservative source. Your source is 2005 to 2006 data, not estimates for 2008. The use is going up, although probably not quickly enough to make the 50% claim for 2008 reasonable, so fine, maybe I had bogus data. So let use yours. 14% of all corn use, and according to you link "Ethanol is blended in 30% of our nation's gasoline". It doesn't look like we have the spare capacity to make it 100%. And even at 100% that is only replacing 10% of gasoline use. And less than 5% of oil imports as less than half of the refined product produced in the US is oil. eia.doe.gov
