But let's face it: Israel is but an anachronistic caricature of the nation-state... it's a monster relic of the XIXth century. The notion that such an archaic institution as "the nation-state" can provide shelter and TOTAL protection to a "persecuted minority" is a lunacy! And that's why there're still more Jews living --and thriving-- in the US, Europe, and South Africa (140,000) than there'll ever be in Israel! As far as Herzl's utopia for a Jewish homeland is concerned, Israel is, and will remain, a fiasco --an aborted fantasy... I didn't see it before, but I do now -- and I agree with you. Although it took a while and a million words, I have had my moment of enlightenment or epiphany. BTW, there are only about 70,000 Jews in SA today.
