'Stop Hillary' TV Ads Launched

This coming Saturday, when Hillary Clinton arrives in Iowa for the first time, she'll be greeted by a series of TV commercials featuring Democrats who want no part of her as a candidate for the presidency.

The 60-second TV spots, which bear the title "Trust" are the brainchild of the Stop Hillary PAC, a group chaired by former New York congressman and NewsMax.com columnist John LeBoutillier. They feature registered Iowa Democrats who all agree that Sen. Clinton cannot be trusted.

LeBoutillier stressed the fact that the commercial features only registered Iowa Democrats and exposes what he called "Hillary's biggest underlying problem: people — even liberal, hard-core Democrats — do not trust her."

This commercial, he added, dovetails with recent polling in Iowa that show that 75-90 percent of Iowa Democratic caucus-goers are already against her. "This lack of trust is her biggest underlying problem, — and our ad shows it quite clearly — as caucus-going Democrats tell viewers that in their own words," he said.

Beginning Saturday, the ads will appear on Fox News Channel, CNN, and MSNBC all over Iowa - except for the Omaha market, according to LeBoutillier who said he had committed $20,000 to pay for the initial commercials.

LeBoutillier explained why his group has targeted the New York senator in the key primary state of Iowa.

"I was disgusted by two completely inept and incompetent campaigns the GOP ran against Hillary Clinton in New York in her Senate races and we have no confidence that they will run a good campaign against her in 2008," he said. "So, instead, we are going to run a campaign designed to show why she must not be President of the United States.

"So I said, 'Look, I'll help run a little campaign against her — put some ads up and get some buzz going to focus things properly on her.' So this ad that begins on Saturday is the first thing we've done. I have Eberly & Associates Direct Mail Fund-Raising, and Campaign Solutions, a wonderful online fund-raising company and the two of them are doing the fund-raising. It's all small: $25, $50, $100 donations."

Future plans call for similar campaigns in other states.

"If this goes well, we'd like to do it in other states such as Nevada and New Hampshire that are on the schedule next year, but first I want to get this thing up and running with Saturday's commercial, and have it go well and see if we increase our support." he said.

"We are sending a direct mail e-mail letter to 675,000 donors. It will urge them to look at the commercial and donate $25 or $50 or whatever they can give to help us buy more TV time in Iowa and elsewhere."

The commercial can be viewed on the group's Web site www.stophillarypac.com.
