I cannot fathom the USA backing the Kurds over Turkey. Turkey has been a LONG TIME ally of ours. Their beef is real (kurds in Turkey attempting to carve out territory from Turkey to form Kurdistan). I like the Kurds, I just HOPE they have the SENSE not to get involved with their brethren on the Turkey side of the border and be satisfied with what they have on the Iraqi side. I'd like us to be allies of BOTH. jdn

If the Turks want to invade Kurdistan, they will claim, very likely with complete veracity, that their borders are being invaded from Kurdistan by Kurdish terrorists.

So, if we back Kurdistan, we will be backing a state that is acting as a terrorist base camp, against a fellow NATO member.

This gets kind of awkward, know what I mean? Aside from the fact that the Turkish army is only the only Middle Eastern army besides Israel that can actually fight well.
