"Talking Ourselves Into Defeat" If 'talk' was all that mattered (or even the main factor that mattered)... no doubt we'd be walking the streets of our new Middle Eastern Utopia by now. Happy 'talk' we have not lacked for. :-) "Profligate self-doubt can exact a price." So can idiotic strategy and leaky implementation.... (So far, my money is on the actual disconnects between policy and reality, and the massive glot of money poured down the drain, not on the touchy-feely 'psychological' factors like the author's hypothesized 'self-doubt'... as the real substantive factors at play here.)
