It got so bad that after my tantrum I had my brother the EE modify a phone for my house. The last year or so she lived with us I had a home phone that did not accept incoming calls and the only outgoing number that could be dialed was 911. Incredible.

And as someone else said when they start having to pay their own it sure changes things. Her first cell phone bill for the phone she went and signed for on her 18th birthday was 680 bucks with all of the overages. I could not help but laugh. After that phone was then disconnected and she spent a year paying off her bill she had a much greater appreciation for what phones cost.

The stress though was something else. At that point I could no more afford a grand for one month of phone then I could afford a new car. I paid for 2 years on her phone bills to the phone company. Amazing how well we get along today to be honest because it wouldn't be hard for me to be bitter about that period and what it did in our home.
