We'll know in 3-6 months if the "surge" was the magic bullet

Magic bullet? The one terrible outcome of the surge, ....er escalation ........is that it might have some kind of success. That would give Bush and the next president the incentive to stay there. Problem is that the people there will never get over their hatred for America - and with any success we will still be in Iraq and be their targets. It then goes on and on and on.

As an independent, I could vote tomorrow for Hagel because I know where he stands - I could not vote for Hillary or McCain. That Hillary has not stepped forward demonstrates one of two things to me; either she is pandering or she has no vision. No vision and no sense of what the real problems are in Iraq.
