You want measurable improvement? Fine so do I. Real improvement can be hard to measure if it isn't a large sustained improvement. Of course that's the type of improvement we want, but getting it and accurately measuring it won't be quick even under the most optimistic scenarios. It doesn't make sense to look back in a few months and say "oh well didn't work", if some formal benchmark hasn't been reached.

"When a region is cleared, we should be made aware of acts of violence which occur in the region, and it can be compared to regions which are not yet cleared."

Good managerial approach. And exactly what will you use that information for? To twist, spin, and misconstrue the progress? Use it to further denigrate the efforts of our troops?

This approach should be measurable. Lets hope they share the data with us. When a region is cleared, we should be made aware of acts of violence which occur in the region, and it can be compared to regions which are not yet cleared.

Would a violence level the same as say Washington DC or New Orleans be an acceptable level? What were the pre-invasion levels?
