I disagree on that :-) No surprise there. When we are learning in environments where there is no threat to us, real or perceived, we learn more. It's the concept of the "affective filter". We tend to put on the armor when we begin to feel uncomfortable, and with the armor comes a certain amount of deafness and blindness. You see it in the classroom, you see it in business, and you see it on SI. Where there is discomfort, where there is a feeling of being attacked, there can be little learning (and imo little growth).
