I blame myself for the problems we had with our son. It was too important to me at that time to be the big shot at work and earn all kinds of money and belong to the country club. My wife was a stay at home mom and actually did a wonderful job with both kids... up to a point. By the time son was nearly out of hand, I had to come to my senses and get involved. If I hadn't, he never would have graduated high school. He had announced to his mother he saw no reason to continue and had decided to drop out. We had some difficult times leading up to graduation, but he made it. I then gave him a choice. Go to college one year, I'll pay for it, then tell me you don't want to continue and I'll get off your back. If you don't want to do that, go see the recruiters. The next day he greeted me with a smile, saying "I joined the Navy today." He then went on to spend a 20 year career. Great thing for him... and me!
