<there are mountains of evidence that Saddam was a threat> Not one shred -- there are mountains of evidence that people were willing to buy into the big lie -- but no evidence of a threat. The threat was purely imaginary -- and the Bush team used every trick in the book to frighten people into believing that they had evidence when they had none at all. People were cowed into going along or risk being called soft on terror or unpatriotic or simply fired -- they were cowards for not standing up to the Bush onslaught of pure propaganda, but given its vicious nature perhaps it is understandable. Now many regret it. Certainly most people who care about our national security regret it.
