That argument doesnt matter anymore. As Bush said at SOTU, we may not have the war we wanted but its the one we have and it has little to do with the first part of the war which we won handily.

Not one word of your post excuses the big lie. What the inspectors found was nothing -- and the more they found nothing the more it started to become clear to them that there was nothing to find. They certainly were clear on one thing -- there was no active nuclear program. As they found nothing the urge for ideologues to invade grew intense -- if the inspectors could verify with some confidence that there was nothing then there would be no way to sell the big lie, and sanctions would be lifted.
