The UN did not invade Iraq. To make claims about the UN is Rubbish. We did not invade Iraq over UN inspections. We launched a war because the President claimed to have concrete proof that Iraq had WMD and ties to terrorism -- all completely bogus -- and the invasion was justified as part of the war on terror -- a complete fabrication -- and claimed this invasion was needed in self defense of the US when the facts were that no threat existed and the mounting evidence pointed exactly in the opposite direction, especially as it concerned the complete lack of an active nuclear program.

The UN inspectors did an outstanding job of overseeing the destruction and documentation of the vast majority of what Saddam was believed to have. The only unanswered question was did he have anything left at all. And he had nothing, which is what the inspectors were concluding piece by piece, day by day. Had they been allowed to complete their work there would be not even the smallest fig leaf for Bush to hide behind and call the US to arms.
