Read Kerry's powerful speech on the Senate floor when he cast his vote. The war powers themselves were not the real problem, the way Bush abused his power and went in so recklessly and unilaterally were. Also the many lies Bush-cheney were telling.

Kerry was in a no-win position. He decided to cautiously trust Bush. It was a mistake and he has acknowledged that. But he definitely wanted to make sure Saddam had no WMD. WMD proliferation is a big issue for Kerry.

Of course, after Kerry knew we were going into Iraq with certainty, he spoke further saying that it was the right thing to do. It was, if you ask me, though I know you didn't.
