If you work for a company, you're going to be covered by their carrier. This is not the case if you're an individual looking to buy insurance. Read up on some real issues. If you have had cancer, how many insurance companies will provide you with coverage? OTOH a single payer system covers EVERYONE. Healthcare, instead of being a consumer product to buy or not to buy as one desires or can afford becomes A RIGHT. It is a fundamental shift in thinking from the crass and simplistic dog-eat-dog capitalist mentality -- I'm still waiting for some capitalist to go to Afghanistan and be a real dog-eat-dog capitalist. That mentality is uncivilized. Why don't we get away from it and become civilized?
