I've had one like that. It's a mother complex. For some reason it considers the feel of your pulse reassuring. I brought in a kitten that someone dumped in the woods one time that wasn't quite weaned. For years it would straddle my chest and suck on my neck like it was trying to nurse. I've found that this isn't unheard of with cats that were separated from their mother too soon.
