That's odd. The Skeptical Economist says that Japan owns $640B of US debt and China owns $321B of US debt. As of Mar 2006.

"...At the end of 2005, China, with $820 billion in such assets, was the second-largest holder of U.S. debt after Japan, which held about $10 billion more [$830B]..."

usinfo.state.gov

You think that means China and Japan were dumping US treasuries between the end of 2005 and Mar 2006?

I question your data. Have you read who are those foreigners that hold US debt? Israel (the welfare state), Caribbeans banks, Turks, LOL. I am pleased that I did not see Lebanese holding US debt. LOL

Here's a pretty chart! I'm not sure if you'll get anything out of it, but you can at least admire the pretty colors and construction.

I've never liked the notion of "How Congress spends your money". The Executive proposes a budget, Congress tweaks it; approves appropriations bills, the POTUS signs them and POTUS spends it.

It all starts and ends with POTUS; I would title the Chart "How the President Spends Your Money".
