Golden is more "mountains" than either Fort Collins or Loveland. Both of these cities are somewhat like Denver, in that they are near what we call the "foothills", or the gateway to the higher mountains. Central City is, of course, well up in the mountains.

Just past Golden (Genesee, actually) is what my SIL called the "AhHa Bridge." That's where you crest the hill, go under a bridge over the highway and there are the mountains staring you in the face.

You go AH HA! involuntarily.

I guess pricey compared to other like areas in the first range near denver - the home I stayed in Golden was very expensive 10 years ago, but the views, mmmmm

when I went to Central City there were having some kind of festival, pure fun - there was a road going out of it, a short cut to I70, called Oh My God Road - I was talked out of taking it - still wish I would have
