Gore will decide if Obama or Hillary can win the nomination. If he runs, they are all VP candidates only. If he doesn't, it is wide open, including for a white male candidate, including one besides John Edwards.

Obama is not Jack Kennedy, he was really special and had a very powerful family behind him. Plus he was white, of course, and a war hero. Clinton was up against a very weak field. He was lucky in that respect. But again, he was white. A black candidate will have a hard time in any national race for a long time. That's just reality. Plus, if Obama does get nominated I fear we'd lose the election. Ditto Hillary in fact. It's all about the swing states.
