<Did you say that you thought saddam had little or no chem and bio weapons back then? >

Yes.

If you search BigFoot and Mqurice and maybe WMD and look in the period leading up to the start of the war, you'll see me predicting about 3000 USA casualties following a guerrilla insurrection after a 110 minute official war [which was the period when the actual invasion would take to succeed, which was of course poetic license as it would obviously take longer than that to drive to Baghdad] being one Globalstar orbit.

I said that USA tanks would be driving around Baghdad looking for something to shoot at. It all happened about how I expected, though I was a bit surprised that Saddam and co didn't even blow up bridges and so on to at least slow the advance a little. The Iraqi army running for their lives in their undies [ditching their uniforms] and surrendering as soon as they could do so without getting in trouble with their bosses was obviously how it would go.

The average Iraqi soldier was NOT going to die to defend Saddam's regime. Just as they are not keen to die to defend the USA regime now. "You stand up and we'll stand down" is a joke. They know damn well that if they stand up, they'll get shot.

Throw in NUN etc and you'll be able to find a bunch of posts. Maybe not all in this stream.

To me it was patently obvious that there weren't any WMDs and it amused me that as usual, Americans were suckered by people who wanted to mislead them and use their patriotism to serve the interests of those doing the deceiving. Wanting to believe is a fatal mistake that humans often make. It's tough to avoid. Believing alpha males seems to be part of tribal human life too.

It was hilarious when, during the invasion, soldiers were screaming "Gas! Gas!! Gas!!!" putting on their gas masks and thinking that because there were [allegedly] some Iraqi anti-gas outfits found, that the Iraqis had gas. It didn't seem to occur to anyone that the Iraqis might have had the gas outfits so that they could breathe when the Americans fired gas all over them. But probably there weren't any gas outfits for Iraqis.

I don't see why the USA would want to have suitcase bombs going off in the USA. But while the stupid and obnoxious TSA was confiscating Granny's nail clippers, Osama might have been smuggling in nukes wrapped in opium. As usual, the generals fight the last war while leaving the door wide open for the next line of attack.

It was absurd that USA airlines used to fly around with the cockpit door shut. Now that there isn't going to be another hijacking, they have the doors locked and secure. Duh!! That's called shutting the cockpit door after the horse has bolted. Hilarious really.

Now millions of people take their shoes off because Richard Reid couldn't blow up his shoes [which probably wouldn't have brought the plane down anyway, even if they had gone bang].

And if somebody lights a cigarette in a dunny, the USA air force is scrambled and the 747 will be forced to land at the nearest base and everyone held prisoner for a day while the panic is sorted out.

In NZ the other day, a bunch of Sikhs got on a flight to Napier with their daggers on their belts. The captain asked them to leave them with him during the flight and everyone happily went on to Napier, no muss, no fuss. If it had been in the USA, Norad would have launched a nuclear fusillade and Homeland Security would have gone on to Orange Alert and King George II would have fled on Air Force One until the coast was clear. Swat teams would have swarmed the airport and dozens of innocent people would have been shot. Maybe the whole aircraft blown up.http://www.nzherald.co.nz/category/story.cfm?c_id=97&objectid=10420958
Life's a giggle!
