Good point.....Although I would say that in the school where I taught the staff was equally divided amongst men and woman.

However getting back to when I was a young woman. I was told that I could be a nurse, librarian, teacher or social worker...

No one ever mentioned those other positions. They were all male occupations. Forget being a Doctor... In fact, we played half court basketball as it was thought that girls just did not have the endurance to run up and down the basketball court.

I could go on and one... like the fact that the girls had no gym. It belonged to the boys. Title 9 ended that..

In fact to get to the very basics... I wanted to go to college but a lot of Father's said, a girl should go as they would just waste their education anyway. I had to fight to go as it was an attitude then that girls just don't need college.

Different world now in so many ways. Good and bad.

However, the teachers whom I know who teach at ASU in NC.. all have Ph.D's and that teaching personality which is personified in being excited about their subject and loving their students.( not pedophiles....(:) and being able to INVOLVE the students in their education..

About what Bill Lindy wrote... My first administrative meeting we were trying to figure out what to do about an issue.. I suggested maybe calling the schools all around us and seeing what they were doing. This just astonished the other members.
All it was for me was common sense... This is the ingredient I think you are referring to............ A lot of nerds just don't know how to get in out of the rain.
