I think this isn't always true. Take the Washington Times, a paper owned by the Reverend Sung Young Moon, prophet of the Unification Church. I'm sure he founded the paper with the hope of DRIVING right wing opinion. sourcewatch.org Some of the other right wingnut outfits have also been founded by deep-pocket right wingnut conservatives, not with the objective of necessarily making money, but to advance their agenda.
