In my calculation I made a mistake regarding solar radiation.

It is around 1.3 to 1.4 KW per square meter.

Depending on region in the US this averages between 4 to 8 KWH a day (24 hours)

California and Mexico is around 7 to 8 KWH average per day.

As ot costs - Current technologies cost $2–$3 per watt. This results in a cost of solar power of 9¢–12¢ per kilowatt-hour.
Costs of conventional coal or gas power plants are below $1 per watt

Newer and more innovative hybrid systems that combine large concentrating solar power plants with conventional natural gas combined cycle or coal plants can reduce costs to $1.5 per watt and drive the cost of solar power to below 8¢ per kilowatt hour.
