"The Mayor" spent his entire life, warts and all, in the public eye - and he survived, and now he is emerging as a credible candidate. No part of the political spectrum will be fully pleased with him - but he is pretty good at making that into a strength.

Yes but there's no guarantee that the country as a whole, or the Republican base in particular, will accept him just because New York accepted him. New York City is a very specialized case. I wonder that he didn't run for governor, like Spitzer just did.

I guess I am a Moderate. I have my social values, they probably lean toward the Conservative side, but in my eyes, so long as Rudy keeps his personal values personal I dont even consider them. I am more interested in his Presidential value in the areas of SECURITY, (homeland and defense), FISCAL RESPONSABILITY, LEADERSHIP, and HONESTY. I think we ought to leave SOCIAL VALUES to the extent government needs to be involved at all to CONGRESS which is more of a PEOPLES COURT. I do feel he MUST get on the right side of Gun Control as I equate Guns with DEFENSE AND SECURITY. Our local police can no longer protect the populance, they are only good for cleaning up the mess afterwards. Its been proven OVER AND OVER a well armed honest citizenry cuts down on violent crime considerably. jdn
