That's right....they are unemployed and if the US did not discontinue unemployment benefits after 6 months but instead left them in place for two years like the EU, the US unemployment rate would be higher as well. Yes, there are lots of policies that if implemented would make the American unemployment higher. But we haven't in fact implemented them, and those policies are part of what I'm talking about in terms of becoming more statist. Or to put it another way your point support my point. If we became more statist we would have higher unemployment.
