If you want to control medical costs, you have to get the people to use HMOs. No way out of it. For all of their faults, it will accomplish that purpose. If you stay "fee for service," as we are now, there is no way to get control. That simple.

I have been with Kaiser here in the Islands for four years, and I think they are the "Gold Standard" of HMO service.

Don't throw out the "good" in pursuit of the "perfect."
