Re: "Palestinian" sounds ancient but is really a modern invention.

Yes, I know.

Racially they are 'Semites' (as also are the Arabs who sprang forth from the Arabian peninsula).

Not that (from a scientific point-of-view) the very concept of 'race' in humans means very much of anything. In Homo sapiens sapiens it is largely a meaningless construct, as we (the entire species & subspecies) are genetically so very much identical... as a result of a 'near-extinction' event in fairly recent pre-historical times, when the Homo sapiens sapiens gene pool narrowed down to just a few tens of thousands, and our subspecies nearly vanished.

So, since there are no appreciable 'racial' differences between them... most likely the important factors are RELIGIOUS and SOCIAL... not 'racial'.

(PS --- Have you ever considered how differently modern world history might have played out if the World Zionism Council had decided to establish his modern State of Israel in Ghana (like the founder of the Zionist movement was campaigning for), instead of the British Mandate in Palestine, which they finally voted for? Did you now that the vote was very close, and it was decided on only *one vote*? Ah... the small things that shape our world! [The 'Butterfly Effect', perhaps.])

I wonder what our modern world would be if a vibrant Capitalist Jewish nation had expanded to influence it's own 'Commonwealth' of nations in West Africa, instead of the Middle East? :-)
