On that '77 port. sorry I overlooked your post, SG. Absolutely open it for this birthday. What we remember in life is moments, not days and this should be one. The port should be good and I would buy a special decanter to mark the occasion and give it to your son. I'd also have a back up just in case. MP

I opened a 77 Gould-Campbell on New Years 2000 and I was hooked. It will definitely need to be decanted and if you don't have a steady hand, I'd suggest a fine stainless strainer. There will likely be a lot of sediment. Also, take great care when extracting the cork, even if it still has a good seal it may be soft on the inside. Enjoy!
