Bush's "shoot iranians" statement was just the usual BS dishonest evasion of reality and attempt to excite the far right. Of course our troops can kill anyone who threatens them. They can be from Mars or Kalamazoo.

"1. How will a US soldier, who can't speak Arabic or Farsi, know that someone is or is not Iranian?"

An Iraqi will tell the Americans that this or that Sunni or Shia rival of his is an Iranian. Then, the Americans will kill him!

See?

re:The recent announcement that US military can attack and kill Iranians in Iraq which are plotting against US interests.

This doesn't this make any sense to me.

1. How will a US soldier, who can't speak Arabic or Farsi, know that someone is or is not Iranian?

From what I understand there is considerable difference between Arabic and Farsi. If true, I can not speak either German or Italian but I can tell the difference within two or three words.

2. If the soldier is being attacked right now, he can return fire regardless of the attacker's nationality, right?

Presumably.

3. If the solider is not being attacked now, what's the point of this law?

I didn't write the law. Sorry.

Wolf Blitzer asked Cheney about this new law during the interview, but he didn't even bring up the craziness of implementation.

Wolf Blitzer is a wuss and appears to be afraid of Cheney. Hence, his questions were not very probing.

Given that the US military probably cant tell Iranians from Iraqis on sight, and that they can already defend themselves when attacked, what's the point of that law.

Maybe it doesn't matter to the US military.
