DEBKAfile’s sources: Without co-opting Iran and Damascus, Saudi King Abdullah’s mediation of violent Fatah-Hamas feud unlikely to succeed

January 29, 2007, 12:25 PM (GMT+02:00)

Six more Palestinians died Sunday in another day of gun battles between the Fatah followers of Mahmoud Abbas and the adherents of Hamas prime minister Ismail Haniya. This raises the death toll since Thursday to 30, among them children. King Abdullah offered to mediate an end to the “disgraceful” fighting. They must discuss their differences, said the Saudi monarch, “without any intervention from outside parties.”

At the same time, both Syria and Iran are deeply involved in stirring up the strife.

In the West Bank town of Nablus, Fatah gunmen kidnapped 11 Hamas members, including a senior commander and torched the offices of the Hamas-controlled education ministry. A bomb blew up the home of a bodyguard of Fatah leader Mohammed Dahlan in N. Gaza. Power-sharing talks between the two factions collapsed once again amid the bloodshed.

That is probably true. And nobody allows him/her any room to save face. So he sees all of us as his/her enemies. We are (unfortunately) conditioning him/her to actually believe his/her tripe--as a matter of emotional survival. What started as ignorance has (undoubtedly) moved into delusion.
