Colmes is not gay but I'm sure he was picked because he looks odd or wimpy. Notice how Hannity-Colmes usually books oddballs, leftwing radicals and wimpy types to falsely represent the democratic point of view. Who we don't see are any of the democrats most credible and attractive-looking leaders. It's part of Fox's phony "fair and balanced" hoax. Meanwhile, besides Hannity-Colmes you'd be hard-pressed to find another progressive or moderate voice anywhere on the network. Fortunately Fox's ratings are bombing. So they're being punished for their unfairness and dishonesty.
